Small Animal: NC State Omega Transitional Care
Supporting patients, clients and veterinary professionals with end-of-life care.
Overview
At the NC State College of Veterinary Medicine, we recognize that end-of-life care is one of the most profound aspects of veterinary medicine. Our approach prioritizes compassion, dignity and individualized care to ensure that both pets and their families experience a peaceful and supported transition.
Our approach to end-of-life care:
- Quality of Life Assessments: We provide guidance to help pet owners determine when euthanasia or palliative care is the most humane option.
- Pain Management and Palliative Care: Our team focuses on ensuring comfort with tailored medical and supportive therapies.
- Client Support and Communication: We offer empathetic counseling and clear communication to assist families in making informed, compassionate decisions.
- Euthanasia Services: Performed in a calm and respectful environment, with options for private or at-home services when appropriate.
- Grief Support and Resources: We provide access to grief counseling, memorial services and support groups for pet owners.
As veterinarians, we are privileged to guide families through this difficult time with kindness, expertise and respect, ensuring that every pet’s final moments are as peaceful as possible.
